Jesus went up a mountain, sat down, and began teaching His Sermon on the Mount. He taught what attitudes His followers are to have toward God and toward other followers. He gave instructions to His followers for those who do not have a knowledge or love for Him.

Jesus taught that those who follow Him are not to judge others from a self-righteous haughtiness or with a critical attitude of judgment.

Then He said:

(NASB) Matthew 7:6 “Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.”

We are not to judge others by looking down on them as if we are better than they are”¦yet we are to use discernment in what we choose to say.

Consider the word picture of having filet mignon and instead of making a beautiful meal of it, you throw it to a pack of wild dogs. Or think about this which Christ painted with His words: you take beautiful pearls which are of great value and you go out to the pig pen and throw them to the pigs.

What will happen to those pearls? The pigs will only step on them in the muddy pig pen, and because you did not feed them “˜slop”™, those pigs will turn on you.

People without the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior will not appreciate that which is sacred or holy to you”¦His words of wisdom which point to life eternal.

People without belief in the Lord Jesus Christ will not appreciate profound things but will mutilate and twist words to suit their own desires. They may turn physically violent and tear the followers of Christ to pieces. Throughout the world, there are reports of violent persecution of believers in Christ Jesus. Many times, in the USA, true believers are maligned on TV and in the movies.

Followers of Christ are to use godly discernment in assessing the needs of those with whom you are talking and with whom you are corresponding.

(NASB) 1 Corinthians 2:14-16 “But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised.

15 But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one.

16 For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he will instruct Him?

But we have the mind of Christ.”

Discernment with discrimination

will understand what will be

of the greatest benefit for another”™s spiritual needs.
