True Treasures of Eternal Value
“˜Help me, O Lord, to understand how Your words apply to my life”¦”™
This is my prayer, what is your prayer?
(NASB) Matthew 6:19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.”
What you and I value, what we collect, reveals our motives and desires. What are you collecting today”¦can it be destroyed or can it be stolen?
All material possessions”¦essentials or non-essentials, can be destroyed and/or taken from us.
How you use material possessions (not the collecting of them) reveals your faith (or lack of faith) in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Aside from what is essential to living ““ in what are you investing your time, energy and emotions?
(NASB) Matthew 6:20 “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal.”
Where you and I spend our time reveals what we are storing up for eternity. Investing time in God”™s word can never be taken from us.
God”™s word is eternal. (See Psalm 119:89)
Who we spend time with is important”¦people are important and have eternal value; God is eternal, His kingdom is eternal. (See 2 Peter 1:11)
Our eternity is dependant on our relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ. We need Jesus for our salvation, our salvation is eternal.
(See Hebrews 5:9 and 1 John 5:20)
Our eternity is dependant on our faith in God”™s word being true and to which we need to respond. (See John 3:3)
Our eternity will be affected by the good deeds we do through faith in Jesus Christ. (See James 2:26)
(NIV) Matthew 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
This is my prayer”¦what is yours?
“˜Help me, O Lord, to understand how Your words apply to my life”¦for they affect my eternity.”™
