One day, Peter went to Jesus and asked a very serious question. Questions which we ask usually indicate something about what is going on in our lives. Scripture does not tell us what was going on in Peter”™s life but his question can lead us to speculate.

(NASB) Matthew 18:21 “Then Peter came and said to Him, “˜Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?”™”

Jesus”™ reply is one which many of us may not want to hear or heed. His answer forces me to do that which I do not want to do”¦I am to forgive over and over and over”¦

I am not to keep a record and count up how many times I have forgiven another.

Then Jesus told a parable that illustrated the point that we will be judged by God according to how we have forgiven others in our lives. At the conclusion of the parable Jesus said that His followers are to forgive from their hearts. Forgiveness involves a lot more than just saying it; our motive is to be from the heart.

(NASB) Matthew 6:14-15 “For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

15 But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.”

God holds His children accountable:
We are to forgive others from our hearts.

Who do you need to forgive from your heart?
