David was Israel”™s greatest king. We find many written prayers to God in the book of Psalms. In many of these prayers, David acknowledged his submission to God as the greater King.

As we pray, we also should acknowledge God and worship Him through prayer by an act of submission.

(NASB) Psalm 145:8-13 “The Lord is gracious and merciful; Slow to anger and great in lovingkindness.

9 The Lord is good to all, And His mercies are over all His works.

10 All Your works shall give thanks to You, O Lord, And Your godly ones shall bless You.

11 They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom And talk of Your power;

12 to make known to the sons of men Your mighty acts And the glory of the majesty of Your kingdom.

13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, And Your dominion endures throughout all generations.”

Jesus gave His disciples a pattern of prayer that honors God:

(NASB) Matthew 6:9-10 “”˜Our Father who is in heaven,

Hallowed be Your name.”™

10 “˜Your kingdom come,

Your will be done,

On earth as it is in heaven.”™”

God”™s kingdom is an everlasting kingdom and the Lord”™s dominion will endure through all generations.

It is God”™s kingdom from where He rules and reigns. We are to submit to His will being done in our lives, here on earth as His will is done by those who worship and serve Him in heaven.

The Bible gives us glimpses of heaven.

(NASB) Revelation 4:1 “AFTER THESE things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven, and the first voice which I had heard, like the sound of a trumpet speaking with me, said, “˜Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after these things.”™”

Revelation 4:9-11 “And when the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, to Him who lives forever and ever,

10 the twenty-four elders will fall down before Him who sits on the throne, and will worship Him who lives forever and ever, and will cast their crowns before the throne, saying,

11 “˜Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created.”™”

(NASB) Matthew 6:9-10 “”˜Our Father who is in heaven,

Hallowed be Your name.”™

10 “˜Your kingdom come,

Your will be done,

On earth as it is in heaven.”™”
