Is there need for further comments concerning divorce beyond what Jesus stated?

(NIV) Matthew 5:31-32 “It has been said, “˜Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.”™ 32 But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.”

What does God”™s word say about marriage?

(NIV) Hebrews 13:4 “Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.”

Whenever marriage is mentioned in Scripture there is also a warning statement about God”™s judgment.

You are encouraged to read the following chapter for yourself:

1 Corinthians 7 discusses various aspects of marriage and the single life.

One aspect is if a person is married to an unbeliever”¦what to do? Scripture encourages them to stay married if the unbelieving spouse is in agreement.

Another aspect discussed is the fulfilling of marital duty of normal sexual activity ““ for God has made us that way.

Whenever marriage is discussed in the Bible it is always concerning one man and one woman.

Marriage is a “˜picture”™ of God and His relationship with His children.

Marriage is holy”¦set apart to honor God and your spouse.

If married, how shall you pray for your spouse?

If you are not married, what is your prayer?
