“˜Do Not Murder”™ = Anger Against a Brother
Many people love a good mystery”¦in a book, a TV show, a movie”¦whodunits are entertaining and mysteries are usually centered on a murder.
Jesus brought up a commandment of God, “˜Do not murder”™, in His Sermon on the Mount.
(NASB) Matthew 5:21 “You have heard that the ancients were told, “˜You shall not commit murder”™ and “˜Whoever commits murder shall be liable to the court.”™
Murder is a premeditated and deliberate act and it is punishable by law. Jesus stated one of the Ten Commandments and notice what He does to take it to a new level of God”™s intention:
(NASB) Matthew 5:22 “But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever says to his brother, “˜You good-for-nothing,”™ shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever says, “˜You fool,”™ shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell.”
Jesus said that anger against a brother is equal to murder.
The dictionary defines murder: 1.The unlawful killing of one human being by another, especially with malice aforethought.
Tongues of anger kill relationships and reputations”¦
Anger leads to contempt of another and anger also leads to court.
Did you notice that the judgment of men leads to a court of law and the judgment of God leads into the fire of hell?
Our words of anger are not passed over by God. Anger is sin and it leads to death ““ unless it is dealt with before God and with the one toward whom you are angry.
My anger toward another is my responsibility ““ it is not somebody else”™s fault. God will not judge another for my anger ““ He will deal with me.
Jesus equated anger with murder ““ tomorrow”™s devotional will address the remedy for our anger.
Do you need to ask God”™s forgiveness for your anger?
Do you need to forgive another who has caused you to be angry?
