Jesus had twelve disciples. Each one had a distinct personality. No “˜cookie-cutter”™ people in this diversified group of men. Jesus chose His disciples over a period of time and from a varied background. Some personalities would be radically changed and others would grow and mature ““all would be influenced as they spent time with Christ Jesus.

(NASB) John 1:40-42 “One of the two who heard John speak and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter”™s brother.

41 He found first his own brother Simon and said to him, “˜We have found the Messiah”™ (which translated means Christ).

42 He brought him to Jesus”¦”

What can we deduce about Andrew from these few verses and the preceding verses?

Andrew had a brother ““ Simon

Andrew was a disciple of John the Baptist

Andrew had heard the preaching of John

Andrew had seen John baptize with the water of repentance (possibly he

had been baptized by John)

Andrew had witnessed the Jerusalem delegation”™s questions and John”™s

answers

Andrew believed John”™s testimony concerning Jesus (Look, the Lamb of God!)

Andrew had a personal encounter with Jesus (he had spent a day with Him)

Andrew wanted his brother to know Jesus for himself (not just what

Andrew had said about Jesus)

Andrew believed that Jesus was Messiah (God”™s Anointed One ““ the One

Israel had been promised and whom they expected)

Andrew convinced Simon to meet Jesus

Andrew introduced Simon to Jesus

How do you and I find out about Jesus? Isn”™t it by studying God”™s word for ourselves? Isn”™t it listening, really listening, to Biblically based sermons? Isn”™t it going to a Bible study during the week as well as attending a Sunday School class where God”™s word is given out?

Isn”™t it asking God to show us Jesus?

Andrew introduced his brother to Jesus”¦

who do you want to introduce to Jesus?
