Many times prophecy which has been given was for that time and for today and for the future. Prophecy has been likened to mountains seen from a distance. As you go to the top of a mountain range on a hair-pin road, ever climbing upward, you will begin to see other mountain ranges. Those ranges have vast valleys between them and there is a separation of mountain ranges ““ beautiful in their majestic might.

So many of the prophecies in the Holy Bible are like those unfolding mountain ranges”¦prophecy may be reaching out through time, being fulfilled in stages, as seeing mountain ranges over a vast distance.

In the Old Testament, Joel had prophesied of God pouring out His Spirit on His people, men and women, His servants. (See Joel 2:28-29)

John the Baptist prophesied of Messiah:

(NASB) Matthew 3:11 “He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”

This prophecy was fulfilled at Pentecost”¦after Jesus had died on the cross, had been resurrected and ascended into heaven. Then He had sent His Holy Spirit on His followers.

(NASB) Acts 2:1-4 “WHEN THE day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.

2 And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

3 And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them.

4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit”¦”

This baptism of Jesus is for today for those who believe that He is Lord and that God has raised Him from the dead”¦and the promise of prophecy includes you, you will be saved. (See Romans 10:9-10) All believers in Christ have been given His Holy Spirit”¦and our life in Christ continues to be refined and purified by the fire of His Holy Spirit in us.

(NASB) John 16:13 “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.”

This prophecy of promise from Jesus is for all who believe”¦have you received His wonderful promise? If so, are you searching the Scriptures? Are you putting on the armor of God? Part of that armor is the “sword of the Spirit” (God”™s word)”¦are you using God”™s word as your defense and your help? (See Ephesians 6:17)
