Clint Eastwood starred in the film, “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”. Your life and mine can also be known as the good, the bad, and the ugly.

There are also times that life is beautiful and good.

If you are a follower of Christ, perhaps you recognize that God is in your life, no matter your circumstances or your feelings about your situation.

Our nature, without God, is not good. In fact it is ugly. The ugliness of sin can be seen every day in this world. God knows all about it. He knew we would need a Savior, that we would need Messiah.

Herod demonstrated the ugliness of sin when he gave the order to kill all male children two years old and under in Bethlehem and the areas around that small town.

(NASB) Matthew 2:17-18 “then what had been spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled:

18 “˜A voice was heard in Ramah, Weeping and great mourning,

Rachel weeping for her children; And she refused to be comforted,

Because they were no more.”™”

God had warned of this time through His prophet, Jeremiah. He did not tell the exact time this would take place, but take place it did.

But God knew! He is Omniscient, (all-knowing). He protected Messiah when He came as a helpless infant. Herod had a choice and he chose the ugliness of sin. All people have the freedom to choose what their words and actions will be. Because God is Omniscient, He knew what Herod would choose to do.

God”™s purpose was to protect Messiah until the time He would die for all the sins of everyone. God is Sovereign and He is All-Knowing.

What does this mean in your life and mine? Psalm 139:2-4 states that God knows us inside and out. He even knows the words we will speak tomorrow. Yet, we are not puppets or robots.

In verse 16 of that same Psalm, God knew what we would be like before we were conceived!

From verses 23-24, Since God knows all about us, why not ask Him to search us and know our inner most thoughts, and ask Him to show us any ugliness of sin in us (we don”™t always recognize it in ourselves, do we?).

And then ask this Omniscient God to lead us in His way forever.
