Accountability”¦
Leadership which has no accountability will have no check on decisions that are made. Any leader who does not seek wise counsel and advice will assume complete control. And often this will be to the detriment of the people.
King Herod was not accountable to anyone. He had the power and political authority to do anything he wanted at anytime he wanted. And he used his power to kill any possible perceived threats to his kingdom.
(Amplified) Matthew 2:16 “Then Herod, when he realized that he had been misled by the wise men, was furiously enraged, and he sent and put to death all the male children in Bethlehem and in all that territory who were two years old and under, reckoning according to the date which he had investigated diligently and had learned exactly from the wise men.”
Accountability is accepting responsibility for your actions. Wise leaders will have others to whom they are accountable. Accountability is insurance that wise decisions, which affect many, will be made and executed.
Today, entitlement is a mindset which has little or no accountability associated with it.
Godly leadership is essential and needs to look to God”™s word for direction. Herod did not fear God; in fact, he had no relationship with the Lord God of Israel. What about you?
Do you fear God in the sense of godly fear? Do you have a relationship with the Lord God of the Bible? A relationship built on the fact that He gave His Son so you can come before Him, into His very presence?
Do you have others to whom you are accountable for your actions? If not, you may want to prayerfully consider who God would have you ask to help keep you accountable.
You may not have a job in which you have others working “˜under”™ you, but you do have a home and friends, family, and others with whom you have some kind of relationship. A true friend will hold you accountable for your best good.
Herod is a warning to us ““ a warning to have others to whom we are accountable.
