You and I are not responsible for what political leaders do, or do not do.

We are responsible to pray for them.

(NASB) Matthew 2:7 “Then Herod secretly called the magi and determined from them the exact time the star appeared.”

Herod”™s secrecy ““ was not to protect Israel, but to protect his throne of power.

Herod the Great used people and abused people.

Herod”™s cleverness ““ in determining the possible age of the child”¦he asked the wise men what was the exact time of the appearance of the star.

Herod did not expose what he really wanted to know”¦how old the child would now be.

(NASB) Matthew 2:8 “And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, “˜Go and search carefully for the Child; and when you have found Him, report to me, so that I too may come and worship Him.”™”

Herod”™s deception ““ He was politically astute. He pretended to be of one accord with the magi, but only for his personal agenda.

Herod”™s deception ““ had an ulterior motive”¦no one was to be the king; no one was to be greater than Herod in Israel.

Herod”™s fear ““ his power and position would be taken from him. His fear controlled him.

(Herod”™s kingdom was divided into a tetrarch after his death. Three areas ruled by each of his three sons.)

What fears drive you?

(NASB) 1 Timothy 2:1-2 “FIRST OF all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men,

2 for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.”

Followers of Christ are to pray for our leaders.

No matter if we agree or not

with their decisions, policies or leadership.

What we can do is pray for God”™s will to be done.
