Teaching Godly Thinking
Teachers in schools shape a child for life. Parents should be actively shaping their children for life. Parents are responsible for preparing their child(ren) at home and through the schools which are chosen for education. Too often, parents are abdicating their responsibilities for their children”™s upbringing and education. Public schools, private schools, Christian schools, charter schools, home schooling”¦there are many from which to choose.
Zacharias and Elizabeth had been given the responsibility to prepare baby John to become the Forerunner of Messiah. God had sent His angel messenger to Zacharias and told him about John”™s future responsibility as Messiah”™s PR man. (See Luke 1:13-17)
(NASB) Luke 1:80 “And the child continued to grow and to become strong in spirit, and he lived in the deserts until the day of his public appearance to Israel.”
Think about the implication of John continuing to grow and become strong in spirit and through the teachings he learned in his home from his godly parents. Their prayers for him must have been a blessing also. He was even sent into the deserts for his education, living apart from the general population until it was time to prepare Israel for Messiah.
Some parents say they give no religious training, or attend any Bible believing church, because they want their child to choose for themselves. They are training their child to ignore God and His words of life.
Parents are to talk about God and His word in the home, parents are responsible to pray for, and with, their child(ren). Biblically-based Sunday Schools are great, but it is the daily taking in of God”™s word that will make children “˜strong in spirit”™. Indeed, it is the daily taking in of God”™s word in anyone”™s life which will make us “˜strong in spirit”™.
How are you “˜schooling”™ yourself in God”™s word to become a godly thinker?
