A good mystery story draws attention to the clues which are slowly revealed, facts are stated in such a way as to give misleading information (a red herring). Slowly the facts are given which lead to the one “˜who done it”™.

God”™s mysteries are slowly revealed as His word is read; however, to have a grasp of Who He is and what His plans are ““ we need to be filled with His Holy Spirit. God has revealed some facts which we understand, most of the time as hindsight. Only after He has worked out His purposes through the lives of people, do we understand what He foretold through His prophets.

(NASB) Luke 1:67 “And his (John) father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying:”

Consider how God worked in the lives of this family.

He had given His Holy Spirit to Elizabeth as she was pregnant (about six months pregnant) as she greeted Mary. (See Luke 1:41-42)

God gave His Holy Spirit to that baby Elizabeth was carrying. (See Luke 1:44)

Then God gave Zacharias His Holy Spirit when he wrote that the baby”™s name was to be John, in obedience to God”™s instructions. (See Luke 1:13)

When Elizabeth greeted Mary, the Holy Spirit revealed to her that this teen-ager was the mother of Messiah. God the Holy Spirit revealed God the Son. And He still does today. As you and I grow in our understanding of God the Son (Jesus Christ) it is by the power of the Holy Spirit. He is an integral part of the triune God.

When the baby in utero heard the voice of Mary greeting Elizabeth, he leaped for joy (his mother Elizabeth knew that for a fact!). God the Holy Spirit has joy in the presence of God the Son.

God the Father gives

God the Holy Spirit

to those who receive

God the Son as their Savior.

The question, the mystery that needs to be revealed in your life, is God the Son being revealed to you by God the Holy Spirit? If not will you now, this moment, ask God the Father to give you the gift of life through Jesus Christ? If you have received Jesus as your Lord and Savior, will you now ask Him to give you a hungering desire for God which only He can fill up in your life?

What will your prayer be for the New Year of 2009?
