The number one best seller is the Bible. There are people who are working to translate the Bible into the known languages of various cultures throughout our world.

There are many translations available in book stores throughout the United States. Secular as well as Christian book stores have Bibles to sell. Owning a Bible is a good thing. But what we do with that Bible is quite another thing. Does it set on a shelf, unread? Is it a “˜prop’ for you to exhibit?

Before I knew Jesus as my Savior, a Holy Bible was prominently displayed on a coffee table – unread, unused, untouched (except to dust it off when the furniture was dusted). It was of no importance to me, except to be displayed. After I asked Jesus to be in my life, my heart, the Holy Bible became important to me. To learn about God, I had to study that book.

What do we need to remember about God’s word, the Holy Bible?

It is true.

What God says…will happen.

God’s word is to be believed.

God’s word is dependable.

God’s word is to be obeyed.

Zacharias was unable to speak because of unbelief in God’s message to him.

(See Luke 1:20) Then the baby was born that had been promised to Zacharias and Elizabeth.

(NASB) Luke 1:59-60 “And it happened that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they were going to call him Zacharias, after his father.”

60 But his mother answered and said, “˜No indeed; but he shall be called John.'”

To obey God’s word, we need to remember what He has said. (See Luke 1:13)

Elizabeth’s words are a good example to follow even today. Remember what God has said and do what He says to do.

When you are brought face-to-face with a situation, do you consciously remember what God’s word says that tells you the right way to respond?

God’s word needs to become a part of our thinking processes for the everyday situations with which we are faced. It is very easy to think the way the world thinks, but rarely will it agree with God’s word.

How can we become more like Christ in our daily living? Through the study of God’s word…through putting God’s word in the first part of our day…remembering what God says about interacting with others as a godly man or woman.

Dust off your Bible…it is the word of God.

How shall you now pray?

Why not pick your Bible up and read about what God wants you to know today.

If you don’t know where to start…start with the book of Luke…

May the Lord bless you with a hunger and thirst for His words to you…
