A beautiful fall day, a friend who cares, a hug from a loved one, a late blooming rose, the promise of a holiday filled with family and friends, a phone call, a letter, an e-mail, a texting from that special someone, a successful surgery, protection on the streets and highways, vacation from the “˜usual’, a hot cup of coffee or tea with a special friend…
What are some things for which you are thankful today?
Elizabeth was waiting at home for her husband. When he came home from Jerusalem, he came with astounding news and a voice that could not speak.
She was going to have a son and they were to name him John…God said so.
What is notable about Elizabeth’s faith compared with her husband’s? Zacharias was confronted with good news from Gabriel, an angel who had come from the presence of God to deliver this good news, and he did not believe. Zacharias only saw the impossibility, but Elizabeth? Well…
(NASB) Luke 1:24-25 “After these days Elizabeth his wife became pregnant, and she kept herself in seclusion for five months, saying,
25 “˜This is the way the Lord has dealt with me in the days when He looked with favor upon me, to take away my disgrace among men.'”
Elizabeth accredited God with taking away her inability to have a child, even in her old age…she had an attitude of gratitude; she acknowledged the Lord God and His great good news.
To God be the glory, for the things He has done!
(NIV) Colossians 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.”
Is that your attitude today? If not, you can choose to thank Him for the things that Hehasdone, and isdoing, for you! In fact, counting the blessings God has given you will be a way to increase your confidence and faith in Him.
How shall you now show your attitude of gratitude to the Lord God?
