There are many cameras on the market today that have an array of functions. Digital cameras are amazing inventions. You can take a picture that is “˜perfect’ and if not, you can make it “˜perfect’ with the functions provided. There are two factors that cannot be done without outside intervention. One – a person has to set the camera to take a picture. Two – the picture will have to be developed. It takes more time to get the finished product than to take the “˜perfect’ picture. This is a simile of God’s grace at work in the followers of Christ. It takes time to develop, to grow in grace. The results will be like a picture taken – there will come a time when the followers of Christ will be completed and God’s work will be seen – as a picture is seen after it has been developed.
(NASB) Philippians 1:6 “For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.”
***Think about this amazing statement:
God’s work will continue until it is completed in you.
What is amazing about God’s grace in the life of Christ’s followers? It is God Himself Who has begun a good work in those who believe in His Son…it is not the work of the followers; it is the work of God.
It is God Who will continue to do the good work in believers until Jesus Christ returns.
No matter what is happening in the world today…God is continuing to work in His children until Christ physically returns to earth. Then His work will be completed.
Don’t you think if you have “˜messed up’ again that God will say “˜O.K., that’s it, I’ve had it with your messed up life…you are on your own.’ You can be confident His grace is at work developing you. Growth in grace is God at work, perfecting His own and He will not stop until His good work, His grace, has been completed…in you.
The followers of Christ grow in grace and will continue to develop.
That’s God’s good work in them.
God’s grace is His unmerited favor, His grace is abundant, His grace is His divine help in your behalf ~ and His grace is a growing process! God’s grace is multi-faceted!
