Today, heroes are people who can overcome the world through aggressive and brutal actions in the movies, interactive games, and TV. Heroes are selected from sports, politics, actors and actresses. Role models are chosen and being emulated by society.

From where should we choose our heroes? Shouldn’t heroes and role models be taken from men and women who have led godly lives? Whose choices reveal their faith in the living God?

George Washington is such a role model…read his biography sometime. Abraham Lincoln is another in America’s past.

Today among the men who are worthy of watching are Bill Cosby and Tony Evans. These men state values which are not “˜politically correct’.

Heroes are not conformers to the status quo, they stand for their convictions in the face of opposition. Who have you chosen as your hero? Do you need to seek other heroes?

In the book of Ruth, Boaz is a hero. His life reflects his faith in the living God and shows God’s glory through his actions and words. Later in the Book of Ruth we will see how he deals with various situations and obligations. Was he a warrior? No, he was a landowner. Was he a leader of his nation? No, he was a leader of his workers.

(NIV) Matthew 5:14-16 “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see our good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”

***Does your life reflect your faith in God and His glory? Do your actions and your words let others know of your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ? Or do they show your lack of faith?

When you and I do works in the name of Jesus, God the Father will be glorified. Let God’s word be one of the first things you read when you wake up. Start your day by reading something from the Bible. Talk with God about your day, putting confident trust in Him to lead you throughout your day.

You can be a hero ~ today! Let your light shine before those you will encounter, today. Let your good deeds be done so that your Father in heaven will be praised.

Your actions and words are to reflect the glory of God.

Godly heroes are needed today.

Begin by reading His word.

What shall your prayer be this moment?
