What do you know of your ancestors, your lineage? From what country or people do you come? What is the religion of your people? What did they do for a living, were they educated? Were they brilliant or talented in specific areas? Were they wealthy, average or poor? Were they “˜good’ people? For what are they remembered?

Genealogies are “˜in’. Perhaps you have information or gather information about your ancestors.

Boaz’ lineage is interesting. He was the son of Rahab who was from Jericho. She was not a Hebrew, but his father was. Boaz was related to Elimelech, Naomi’s husband.

Boaz was wealthy and well respected in Bethlehem. And as we continue to read the book of Ruth we will get to know this man better.

(NASB) Ruth 2:1 “NOW NAOMI had a kinsman of her husband, a man of great wealth, of the family of Elimelech, whose name was Boaz.”

***Boaz had quite a lineage. No matter what your lineage is, if you are a follower of Christ, your spiritual lineage goes directly to God as your heavenly Father. That is one generation! Your lineage is through the Lord Jesus Christ. When you received Jesus as your Savior, you became a child of God.

My grandchildren have received Jesus as their personal Savior – they do not trace their spiritual lineage through their parents, grandparents, no one except the Lord Jesus. They also are direct descendants of God!

(NASB) John 1:12-13 “But as many as received him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, 13who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.”

(NASB) Galatians 3:26 “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.”

(NASB) 1 John 3:1 “SEE HOW great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God…”

Think about this…a child of God. Are you a child of the living God through faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior? If you are, blessed are you, blessed indeed!

How shall you now pray?
