The slave Joseph was wrongfully imprisoned, yet God was with him and used him behind those prison walls.  He was given the ability to interpret dreams sent by God.  He did it for two high ranking officials of Pharaoh.  Joseph interpreted their individual dreams – the chief cupbearer was restored to his position and the chief baker was hanged for his offence.
(Genesis 41:9-12)

The chief cupbearer forgot Joseph.  Two years later, in one night Pharaoh had two separate dreams and all his magicians and wise men of Egypt could not interpret them.  Then the cupbearer remembered Joseph and his ability to interpret dreams sent by God.

We should carefully discern people who claim to be able to interpret God’s words of prophecy.  What does God, Himself say?

(NASB) 1 Peter 1:20-21 “But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation,
21 for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.”

No prophecy of Scripture comes about by any personal, private or “special” interpretation of people.  Scripture is not rightfully interpreted by human will or impulse… it must be explained by people moved by the Holy Spirit of God Himself.

~ Take it to heart ~

How can we know Joseph gave God’s revelation?
His interpretations were fulfilled. To the letter.

Joseph gave all the credit to God for revealing His intentions for the future through dreams.  Joseph credited God, not himself!

Be prayerfully careful who you trust to interpret God’s words.
