Isaac was wealthy!  Isaac’s wealth would have made him powerful!

The Philistine, Abimelech, was filled with fear at Isaac’s wealth and power.  He asked Isaac to move away from them, he was too powerful for them.  (Genesis 26:12-16)

What did Isaac do?  How did he react?
(NASB) Genesis 26:17 “And Isaac departed from there and camped in the valley of Gerar, and settled there.”

Isaac did not use his great wealth as a weapon against the Philistines.  He did not “stand up for his rights.”

Think about what he was asked to do: to move on!

He would have had to find pasture for his extensive herds and flocks.  He would have had to move all the tents and belongings of his family and many servants.

Moving on would not have been easy – but he did not argue or disagree – he moved on!

Moving on requires energy: emotional, physical, mental and spiritual.  Moving on may be in relationships with people or even with God.  Moving on may include fear of the unknown.  Moving on is trusting God.

Moving on can be done by dragging our feet, procrastinating, putting off decisions and all the work involved!  Moving on can be painful and filled with sorrow.

The attitude we choose to “Moving On!” affects ourselves and how we move on.

What attitude did Isaac have?  He “departed” and moved on.

What attitude do you have as you are asked to go somewhere else to live and/or to work?

Do you approach “Moving On!” as an adventure?  To see where God is leading you and trusting Him in the “Moving On!”?

~ Take it to heart ~

What attitude do you now choose when God calls you to be “Moving On!”?
