We are to have a Reverential Fear of God.  Why?  Because of Who He is – He is the Lord God Almighty.  Because of His holiness – we are to give Him respect and reverential fear.

For this reason, because of His promises to us, we are to give Him honor and glory as we worship Him.

When we give Him reverential fear we are also given specifics of what to do.

(NASB) 2 Corinthians 7:1 “THEREFORE, HAVING these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”

“…cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit…” this is a crucial step in rightly fearing our God.  We are to ask Him to forgive us of our sins, confessing them to Him with all honesty.  We are to name them when we talk with Him in prayer.  Physical sins, spiritual sins, all are to be confessed to God our Father.

(NASB) 1 John 1:9-10 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.”

Followers of Christ, we are to grow up, we are to continue to mature as we worship our God.  We are to be consecrated, set apart, as we worship God in reverential fear.

Never forget: our God is the living God who lives in us!

We are to come under His authority and do what He says – our obedience is reverently fearing our God.

~ Take it to heart ~

Remember: God is intentional – He expects me to obey His words…period.
He loves me too much to be permissive.

My eternity is God’s goal.
Reverential Fear of God…
is this my goal?
