The writer to the Hebrews is drawing to a conclusion.
(NASB) Hebrews 13:22 “But I urge you, brethren, bear with this word of exhortation, for I have written to you briefly.”

The writer of Hebrews stated, “… I have written to you briefly.”

This “brief” letter began on this devotional website, January 4, 2016; over nine months ago.
This letter to the Hebrew followers of Christ is filled with many deep truths of God.  It refers to the Old Testament prophecies of Messiah; yet, it is timely – even today.

I am to “listen” to this letter of exhortation.  It is all about my Savior, my Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ.

According to the dictionary, one meaning for exhort: “A speech or discourse intended to advise, incite, or encourage.”

Advises
The book of Hebrews does just that!  It advises me to pay attention to the living God and His word.
(NASB) Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

Incites
This letter incites me to live a godly life.
(NASB) Hebrews 10:23-25 “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful;
24 and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds,
25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.”

Encourages
This letter of exhortation also encourages me to have faith in my God.
(NASB) Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”

~ Take it to heart ~

Listen up!

Pay attention!

Eyes forward!

God is speaking to me… am I really listening?

(NASB) Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
