Reminder:
(NASB) Hebrews 13:14 “For here we do not have a lasting city…”

Remember:
(NASB) Hebrews 10:34 “For you showed sympathy to the prisoners and accepted joyfully the seizure of your property, knowing that you have for yourselves a better possession and a lasting one.”

What I am experiencing today is not lasting… all of this will come to an end.  How do I know this?  God says so.
My faith is in God and what He says because His words are true; they are eternal and His plan will happen.  God’s words will never come to an end… they are forever.

Anticipation:
(NASB) Hebrews 13:14 “…but we are seeking the city which is to come.”

Even the patriarch Abraham was looking for a city whose architect and builder is God.  (Hebrews 11:10)

God’s promise to me:
(NASB) Hebrews 11:16 “But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one.  Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; for He has prepared a city for them.”

Note the past tense: My God has prepared a city in heaven for me…it is complete!
Whether I live in a palace or in a cardboard box – this is not my eternal home.  Jesus has gone ahead of me!

(NASB) John 14:1-3 “DO NOT let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.
2 ‘In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.
3 ‘If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.”

Not only is Jesus preparing a place for me, He will come again and receive me to Himself!
God, the living God, gathers all who are His and takes us to His city.  He is the architect and builder of “the city which is to come.”

Can you say with me: ‘I am a follower of Christ Jesus and I have a future home in the city which is to come?’

(NASB) Psalm 147:2 “The Lord builds up Jerusalem…”

I am a citizen of God’s prepared city!
