God’s discipline teaches you and me what He wants us to do and how to do it.
Your father probably gave you some kind of discipline.  The Bible uses our fathers as illustrations.

(NASB) Hebrews 12:9 “Furthermore, we had earthly fathers to discipline us, and we respected them; shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of spirits, and live?”

We were given physical life through the union of our mother and father.  We are given spiritual life through faith in Jesus the Son of God.  He is our Savior given to us by God the Father.  We are to yield to Him in our lives and please Him in how we live.

Our fathers gave us discipline as it seemed best to them.  God the Father disciplines His children for our best good!  He disciplines us so we may share in His holiness.  (Hebrews 12:10)

Discipline is not filled with joy!  Discipline at times brings tears and sorrow.  Yet, if we are teachable and learn the lessons God the Father wants us to learn, we will be trained.  We will be successfully disciplined.  And the peace that only God the Father gives will be known in our lives…the peaceful fruit of righteousness.
(Hebrews 12:11)

Rejoice!  God the Father disciplines His children out of love.  He uses people, circumstances and trials to help us learn the lessons He has for us.  (1 Peter 1:6)

The proof of your faith is more valuable than gold which eventually perishes.  The proof of your faith is tested by fire.  And God the Father will be praised, glorified and honored when the Lord Jesus Christ is revealed.  (1 Peter 1:7)

Though we have not seen Jesus, we are the followers of Christ who love Him.  Though we do not see Jesus right now, the followers of Christ believe in Him.  Rejoice!  Rejoice with joy, and glorious triumphant shouts of hallelujahs!  Praise and honor and glory – all belong to our God.  (1 Peter 1:8)

The outcome of those who believe in Jesus as their Savior and Lord is praise!  We are trained by God’s discipline.  We are saved by faith in God our Savior, Jesus Christ.  We are saved by faith…not by anything we do or can do.  It is all of the work of Jesus Christ.  (1 Peter 1:9)

Take it to heart ~

Whatever trial you are in today – God is using it to train you!  Your faith is being tested.

Through God’s discipline your faith should be growing in the living God of the Holy Bible. Is it?

Are you allowing God the Father to grow your faith
through His discipline?
