God’s call may come at any time and at any age.  One couple has younger children, yet they are making inroads into a neighborhood that many would rather leave.  They are making a difference.  People are responding and a church has been planted.  Faith in God demands obedience to His call.

Retirement may mean a move to a new location, city, state or even country.  A move may mean going into a town or city which is unfamiliar.  Any such move will mean finding a doctor, a dentist, a church and new friends.

Moving is not for the faint of heart.  But it can be exciting and you can have anticipation of what God will do through you.

Going on an adventure is always risky.  Obedient faith in the living God and His instructions are a risk.  By faith ~ Abraham obeyed.  He was willing to take the risk.

(NIV) Genesis 12:1-4a “THE LORD said to Abram, ‘Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you.

2‘I will make you into a great nation
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you.’

4 So Abram left, as the Lord had told him…”

That is all fine and dandy – those are words on a page.  A story that reveals obedient faith is fine; even makes for entertaining reading.

But what about real life?  What about today?  Is the living God calling you to follow Him?  Living by faith is scary business.  “What if’s” come crowding in, displacing the assurance of God’s call to leave where everything is familiar and known.

In the life of Abraham and in your life and mine, God’s purpose is revealed one step at a time.

Deep, living faith is obedience to God’s call.  It demands dependence on Him.  The living God and His promises are real.  They are reliable, because God is worthy of your trust.

Faith believes God!  Faith is trusting God!

Obedient faith is risky – on what are you staking your life, your security?

By faith (your name) will obey when God calls.  Even if you do not know where you are going, be an Abraham and fully trust God.  By Faith ~ Abraham obeyed.

(NASB) Hebrews 11:8 “By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed by going out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he was going.”

Take it to heart ~

(NASB) 2 Corinthians 5:7 “for we walk by faith, not sight –”

   Where is God calling you to take a risk?
