God’s motive for you…is love…His love!  He discipline’s those He loves.

How are you to receive God’s discipline?
(NASB) Proverbs 3:11-12 “My son, do not reject the discipline of the Lord
Or loathe His reproof,
12 For whom the Lord loves He reproves,
Even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.”

When the Lord disciplines you, it is from His motive of love.  Sometimes He uses other people to show you where you need to change.  He may use various people or circumstances to teach you His way.  God’s way will lead you to change, to repent, to grow and mature as a beloved child of God.  His way leads you to fix your eyes on Jesus.

As you read the following Scripture, read it as if God is speaking to you…because He is!

(ESV) Hebrews 12:1-7 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
3Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.  4In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.  5And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons?

‘My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord,
nor be weary when reproved by him.
6For the Lord disciplines the one he loves,
and chastises every son whom he receives.

7It is for discipline that you have to endure.  God is treating you as sons.  For what son is there whom his father does not discipline?”
