Paul had time to think about the living Lord Jesus Christ as he lived in a rented house in Rome.  He was chained to a soldier 24/7 for two years as he was under house arrest.

During that time, he talked and preached Jesus Christ to all who came to him.

He also wrote letters to the churches he had “planted” during his three missionary journeys.  The book of Ephesians, Colossians and Philippians were letters to the churches in those cities.  He also wrote a letter to a believer, Philemon, in Colossae…

As you read and study the letters of Paul, know that God used him to write to all who read those letters.  That’s you and me today.  God’s love and tender compassion does not leave us in the dark about how to live our lives pleasing to Him.

Paul was in prison, but he was free in Christ Jesus, as are all believers!
(NASB) Ephesians 4:1-3 “Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called,
2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love,
3 being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”

Paul encouraged believers to keep their eyes on Christ.
(NASB) Colossians 3:1-4 “Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.
3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
4 When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.”

Even though imprisoned, Paul trusted in the Lord.
(NASB) Philippians 1:12-14 “Now I want you to know, brethren, that my circumstances have turned out for the greater progress of the gospel,
13 so that my imprisonment in the cause of Christ has become well known throughout the whole praetorian guard and to everyone else,
14 and that most of the brethren, trusting in the Lord because of my imprisonment, have far more courage to speak the word of God without fear.”

As you contemplate God’s words…
speak the word of God without fear!
