Paul was under house arrest in Rome.  He had freedom to ask people to the house and ask he did.  He called for the Jewish leaders in Rome to come and hear what he had to say about the Lord Jesus Christ.  He explained to them by “…testifying about the kingdom of God and trying to persuade them concerning Jesus, from both the Law of Moses and from the Prophets…”  (Acts 28:17, 23)

After listening to Paul, some were persuaded, others not so much because they did not believe.  Who do you know that does not believe God’s words?  Paul was a gifted teacher and preacher of God’s words…yet even he was not believed by many.

Paul was not responsible for others’ choices, but he was responsible to give out the truth of Jesus Christ.  Paul warned those unbelieving men as they left.  (Acts 28:25)

(NASB) Acts 28:26-28 “…‘Go to this people and say,
You will keep on hearing, but will not understand;
And you will keep on seeing, but will not perceive;
27 For the heart of this people has become dull,
And with their ears they scarcely hear,
And they have closed their eyes;
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
And hear with their ears,
And understand with their heart and return,
And I would heal them.’
28 ‘Therefore let it be known to you that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will also listen.’
29 [When he had spoken these words, the Jews departed, having a great dispute among themselves.]”

Questions to ask yourself:
~Am I clinging to teachings of men or am I honestly seeking God’s word?

~What if…traditions I have been taught are not in line with God’s words – what am I to do?  I have a dilemma, do I choose the teachings of men and do I choose to disagree with God?

~What if…I dispute God’s words and miss His truth?

~Will I then be one of those who have ears which don’t hear and eyes which do not see, blind to God Himself?

Your choices reveal your heart and mind toward God and His words.
