The circumstances:
The Jewish mob:  Wanted Paul dead and they beat him with the intent to kill.  (Acts 21:30-31)

The Roman commander:  NASB) Acts 22:24 “the commander ordered him to be brought into the barracks, stating that he should be examined by scourging so that he might find out the reason why they were shouting against him that way.”

Paul, the prisoner:  Asked a question of the centurion overseeing “the examination”: “Is it lawful for you to scourge a man who is a Roman and uncondemned?”
(Acts 22:25)

The Roman commander:  Questioned Paul if he was a Roman.  Paul said “yes.”  The commander then told about his own citizenship, he had paid a lot of money to be a Roman.  Paul then told him, that he was born a Roman.  The commander was afraid because of how he had treated Paul. (Acts 22:27-29)

The warnings Paul had received:  Paul knew something would happen in Jerusalem…he had been warned repeatedly in many cities as he traveled to Jerusalem.  Agabus, a prophet, had visually prophesied of Paul being bound hands and feet before Paul arrived in Jerusalem.  (Acts 20:22-23; 21:10-11)

Paul’s response:(NASB) Acts 21:13 “…For I am ready not only to be bound, but even to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”

Even though Paul knew suffering and hardships, he continued to go forward in the will of God for him.
Even though you may know suffering and hardships today, going forward in the will of God for you is to continue on – moving forward.

God is still God!  He does not change.  He is God our Savior.  He is our strength.

(NASB) Habakkuk 3:18-19 “Yet I will exult in the LORD,
I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.
19 The Lord GOD is my strength,
And He has made my feet like hinds’ feet,
And makes me walk on my high places.”

If you are a follower of Christ: you can leap up the sides of difficulties because the Lord God has given you that ability.  You can say, “The Lord God is my strength” today!
