Paul and Luke traveled to Troas and met seven men who had been sent ahead to the seaport city.  All stayed for seven days.  (Acts 20:6)

Believers gathered in a third story upper room and after communion (breaking bread) Paul began talking…and talking…and talking until midnight.  Paul had much to tell these beloved believers before he again took up his travels. (Acts 20:7)

Paul was intent on giving out the Good News of new life in Christ and how to grow “in Christ” as believers.

The room was lit by many lamps.  A young man, Eutychus, sat on a window sill.  It had been a looooong day and he grew sleepy and then slept.  He fell.  He died at the foundation of the building.  (Acts 20:9)

What did Paul do?  He went to the body of Eutychus bent down and embraced him, Paul said, “Do not be troubled, for his life is in him.”  (Acts 20:10 NASB)

Restored to life.  In the Old Testament, there are other instances of restored life through the prophets Elijah (1 Kings 17:17-24) and Elisha (2 Kings 4:32-37).

These three men were used by God to restore the lives of three young men.  It was not their power, or position, but God Who restored life.

God’s power resurrected His Son (Jesus) from death after crucifixion.  God’s power restores life spiritually, to all who turn by faith to Jesus Christ.

It is God’s power at work to spiritually restore your life and mine when we turn to Him through faith in Jesus.  And all God’s people say, Amen!

Paul then returned to that third story room.  Those believers ate together and Paul continued to teach and talk until daybreak.  Then Paul left to continue his travels.  (Acts 20:11)

How did the believers in Troas react?  They took the boy home, restored to life.  How encouraged, comforted, cheered and refreshed they must have been. (Acts 20:12)

Restored to spiritual life ~ a time of joy!
