Paul “planted” a church in Berea.  The Jewish congregation was “noble-minded” and listened to Paul.  They compared the Scriptures with what Paul proclaimed and many believed Jesus to be the prophesied Messiah.  Not only the Jews; the Gentiles also responded to the Good News found in Jesus Christ. (Acts 17:11-12)

Then trouble arrived — Jews from Thessalonica agitated and stirred up a mob against Paul.
(Acts 17:13)

The Bereans sent Paul away but Silas and Timothy (Paul’s helpers) stayed in Berea.
(Acts 17:14)

Some men of Berea did not stand on a pier and wave good-by; they escorted Paul as far as Athens by ship to Greece.
Can you imagine the blessings those men received as they sailed with Paul?  Think of the conversations and the teachings they gained by being with Paul.
At the end of the voyage, Paul told the Bereans as they were ready to sail back home:
(NASB) Acts 17:15 “…and receiving a command for Silas and Timothy to come to him as soon as possible…”

Paul considered those two men invaluable to his ministry of proclaiming Christ Jesus.

Who do you acknowledge as invaluable to you?
First: your relationship with God
Second: your spouse
Third: the ministry of your job – remember the Lord is not limited by your circumstances for you to tell others and invite others to know Jesus as their Savior.

The Lord gave invaluable helpers to Paul, and He will also give you invaluable helpers.
Perhaps you are an invaluable helper to another.

Paul recognized and acknowledged his need for his traveling companions.  Who do you need to recognize and acknowledge as invaluable helpers to you?
