Paul and followers of Christ in Thessalonica experienced jealousy and hatred.  Today Christians experience the same things in many towns, villages and cities.

Come and consider what happened in Thessalonica noticing the similarities of today.

Paul, Silas and Timothy went to Thessalonica and reasoned, explained and proclaimed Jesus.  Proving He was the Messiah according to Scriptures by having to suffer and rise from the dead.  One example among many: Jesus fulfilled the prophecy of Messiah’s first Advent coming as a baby, born to be King!  (Micah 5:2)

Suffering of Messiah
Psalm 22 and Isaiah 53 give the suffering of Messiah on the cross…many years before crucifixion was known or used to kill people.  Jesus suffered on a cross in the very way these Scriptures explain it.

Resurrection of Messiah
(NASB) Psalm 16:10 “For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol;
Nor will You allow Your Holy One to undergo decay.”

The jealous Jews hired some thugs from the market place who instigated a mob and stormed the house of Jason.  Paul, Silas and Timothy were not there, but that did not stop them from entering Jason’s house to search.

Today houses are entered; Bibles and Christian materials are taken and/or destroyed.  People are taken away and treated roughly, even tortured and imprisoned without a trial.  Jason and others were dragged to the authorities and allowed to post bond, then they were released. (Acts 17:5-9)

How can we, as followers of Jesus Christ respond to such treatment?
(NASB) 1 Peter 4:12-13 “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you;
13 but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with exultation.”

Remember: We are to praise, honor and worship our Savior, Jesus.  We are to count it a privilege when we suffer because of His name.

Remember:  Jesus is coming again and when He comes, He will rule and reign as King over all kings, all authorities!  (Revelation 19:16)

Remember: We are to shout Hallelujahs!
