Lydia learned about the Lord Jesus Christ as she sat with a group of women listening to Paul by a river in Philippi.  And as the Lord opened her heart she responded to what she heard.  (Acts 16:13-14)

Lydia and her household believed and were baptized.
Lydia’s faith was in the Lord Jesus and she publicly told others that she was a follower of Christ by being baptized.  Baptism did not save her.  But baptism is a “picture” of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Lydia was given to hospitality.  How can we know that?  She urged four men to stay in her home.  Paul, Silas, Timothy and Luke, four men who were led to Philippi by God and they accepted her invitation.  (Acts 16:15)

What about you?  Who or what do you worship?  In many parts of the world today, there is a price to pay for being a follower of Jesus Christ.  Paul also had ‘a price to pay’ for being a follower of Christ Jesus.  In the weeks ahead we will see some of the persecution which Paul endured…all because he faithfully followed His Lord Jesus.

We will also see the joys of people becoming believers in Jesus because Paul was faithful to give out the Good News of the resurrected Jesus.  Lydia is just one example.

Are you a woman or man of faith in the living Triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit?  No matter where God has placed you or is leading you, He will be with you!

God states:
(NASB) Psalm 32:8-11 “I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go;
I will counsel you with My eye upon you.
9 Do not be as the horse or as the mule which have no understanding,
Whose trappings include bit and bridle to hold them in check,
Otherwise they will not come near to you.
10 Many are the sorrows of the wicked,
But he who trusts in the LORD, lovingkindness shall surround him.
11 Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, you righteous ones;
And shout for joy, all you who are upright in heart.”

Lydia was a woman of faith ~ are you a woman or man of faith in the Lord Jesus?
