Paul and Barnabas were in Pisidian Antioch, Turkey.  The Jewish synagogue was the place where large crowds gathered on the Sabbath.  They had heard Paul the week before and wanted to hear more…he had spoken of the living, resurrected Jesus Christ.  Paul said that everyone who believes in Jesus is forgiven of their sins, freedom!
(Acts 13:32-39

(NASB) Acts 13:44-45 “The next Sabbath nearly the whole city assembled to hear the word of the Lord.
45 But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began contradicting the things spoken by Paul, and were blaspheming.”

The unbelieving Jews contradicted and slandered Paul because they were jealous.

How did Paul and Barnabas meet this opposition?
(Amplified Bible) Acts 13:46“And Paul and Barnabas spoke out plainly and boldly, saying, “It was necessary that God’s message [concerning salvation through Christ] should be spoken to you first.  But since you thrust it from you, you pass this judgment on yourselves that you are unworthy of eternal life and out of your own mouth you will be judged.  [Now] behold, we turn to the Gentiles (the heathen).”

The Jewish population had come to a crossroads and chose to reject the truths of God.  By their own mouths they would be judged.  They had their opportunity…and they made a decision to turn away from God and His word.

How do we do that today?  Christ’s salvation is still available to all who turn to Him as their Savior.  Eternal life is the assured promise.  Standing at a crossroad each person must make a choice for themselves.  No one can do that for you…it is yours alone.

How did Paul prove that he had been sent by God?
(Amplified Bible) Acts 13:47-48“For so the Lord has charged us, saying, I have set you to be a light for the Gentiles (the heathen), that you may bring [eternal] salvation to the uttermost parts of the earth. [Isaiah 49:6]”

Each and every day you and I make choices…we come to many crossroads in our lives.  As I live my life, as you live your life, your actions and mine, our thoughts and words…reveal our choices.  When you come to a crossroad today will you choose your way – or God’s way?
