Paul’s sermon to the Jewish congregation in the synagogue at Pisidian Antioch, Turkey was a success.  He had brought his listener’s along with him by reminding them of their history as God’s people.  He led them in their thinking to the Lord Jesus Christ, to the resurrection of Jesus by God’s power.

(NIV) Acts 13:38 “Therefore, my brothers, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you.”

What news to proclaim…forgiveness of sins through faith in the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ…the news that is still true today, for you and me.

(NASB) Acts 13:42-43 “As Paul and Barnabas were going out, the people kept begging that these things might be spoken to them the next Sabbath.
43Now when the meeting of the synagogue had broken up, many of the Jews and of the God-fearing proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, were urging them to continue in the grace of God.”

Paul had spoken God’s truth.  As he and Barnabas were leaving they were “urging” and encouraging the people to trust God, to remain steady in the grace of God and experience God’s gift that did not depend on themselves but on God’s goodness.

God’s grace is unearned, no one can do enough “good works” to earn God’s grace.  It comes by faith in Jesus alone.  God’s grace is His to give.  His grace is extended to you and me by receiving the gift of salvation through belief in the resurrected Christ Jesus.

(NASB) Romans 11:6 “But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace.”

The grace of God is a gift for anyone who receives Jesus as their Savior.  What great news!  With whom are you going to share this message of salvation and God’s marvelous grace?
