Paul spoke in a synagogue to a Jewish congregation at Pisidian Antioch, Turkey.

Presented the Good News: (ESV) Acts 13:26 “Brothers, sons of the family of Abraham, and those among you who fear God, to us has been sent the message of this salvation.”

What a privilege for the Jewish people.  They received the message of salvation…from God Himself through His Son.

Prophecies Fulfilled: (ESV) Acts 13:27 “For those who live in Jerusalem and their rulers, because they did not recognize him nor understand the utterances of the prophets, which are read every Sabbath, fulfilled them by condemning him.”

How sad, that the Jewish people and leaders in Jerusalem did not recognize Messiah, or understand the writings of the Prophets in their Torah.  The very Prophets which are read every Sabbath.  These same people condemned Jesus and so the prophecies were fulfilled.

Put Jesus to Death: (ESV) Acts 13:28-29 “And though they found in him no guilt worthy of death, they asked Pilate to have him executed.  29And when they had carried out all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree (the cross) and laid him in a tomb.”

Who was responsible for the death of Jesus?  The Jewish people in Jerusalem and Pilate, a Gentile, condemned Jesus to death.  However, you and I, we too were responsible for the death of Jesus.  How?  Because we sin against God.  Our sins are the cause of the needed death of Jesus.  He is the Savior; He is the One Who died in our place and took our punishment for our sins, providing a free gift to all whose faith is in Jesus.

(ESV) Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Perfect Plan of God: (ESV) Acts 13:30 “But God raised him from the dead,”

God’s plan was perfect, He promised Messiah immediately after the first sin in the Garden of Eden, Genesis 3:15.  His plan was fulfilled when Jesus was resurrected from the dead.

Proofs of Resurrection of Jesus Christ: (ESV) Acts 13:31 “and for many days he appeared to those who had come up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses to the people.”

What will you now do with this knowledge of the resurrected and living Lord Jesus Christ?  Is He your Savior?  If so, who do you now need to tell about God’s salvation plan through Jesus?
