Peter was accused by fellow believers in Jerusalem when they said, “You went to uncircumcised men and ate with them.”  (Acts 11:3)  Peter defended his actions with the following explanation.

What Peter saw:
(NASB) Acts 11:5-6 “I was in the city of Joppa praying; and in a trance I saw a vision, an object coming down like a great sheet lowered by four corners from the sky; and it came right down to me,
6 and when I had fixed my gaze on it and was observing it I saw the four-footed animals of the earth and the wild beasts and the crawling creatures and the birds of the air.”

What Peter heard:
(NASB) Acts 11:7-10 “I also heard a voice saying to me, ‘Get up, Peter; kill and eat.’
8 ‘But I said, ‘By no means, Lord, for nothing unholy or unclean has ever entered my mouth.’
9 ‘But a voice from heaven answered a second time, ‘What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy.’
10 ‘This happened three times, and everything was drawn back up into the sky.”

The Lord prepared Peter for the Gentiles who would come in the next few minutes to the door of the house where he was staying.  (Tomorrow we will “look into” Scripture as to what occurred next.)

What amazing work of God have you experienced?  It does not matter to God if you are Jewish or a Gentile (anyone not a Jew)…He has sent His only begotten Son to be your Savior.  Jesus Christ (Messiah) suffered, sacrificed Himself and was resurrected so you and I can be made holy, clean and acceptable to the holy God of the Bible.

Followers of Christ, to where is the living God calling you?
Perhaps it is to another culture, another country, or across the street to share the wondrous Good News of Jesus Christ with others.

(Amplified Bible) Acts 11:9 “…What God has cleansed and pronounced clean, do not you defile and profane by regarding or calling it common or unhallowed or unclean.”

As you and I read God’s words in the Holy Bible, that is God speaking to us.  How do you approach God through reading His words?  With “ho-hum, how boring”, or with anticipation in hearing what the Creator God, the living God wants to say to you?!

To whom is God sending you by saying ‘Go and tell them of My Son.’

‘What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy.’
