The word “sin”:

A word that is not used much; a word that is dismissed easily, a word that makes us uncomfortable.
If the word “sin” is without merit in our language then we don’t need to think about those things we do against the God of the Bible.  We won’t see our need to be forgiven!  Especially forgiven by God.  What does the Bible say, what does the living God say?

Let’s “listen in” to what Peter had to say to an assembly of Gentiles:
(NASB) Acts 10:43 “Of Him (The Lord Jesus Christ) all the prophets bear witness that through His name everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins.”

Scriptures bear witness:

Did you notice Peter’s wording?  “…all the prophets bear witness that through His name…”  Did you know that the prophets, the books they wrote in the Old Testament, tell of Messiah?  All the prophecies of the Messiah’s First Advent have been fulfilled, every one of them!  When Jesus came (His First Advent to earth), His conception, His birth, His life, His death, His burial, His resurrection fulfilled all the prophecies given for those times.  Moses and all the prophets spoke of Messiah!  So, since all the prophecies of Jesus’ First Advent were fulfilled, it follows that all the prophecies of His Second Advent will also be fulfilled.  Jesus is coming again as Judge of all the earth and as King over all kings, potentates, presidents…over all leaders of all countries.

Through faith in Jesus Christ:

To what did the prophets bear witness?  To Messiah.  It is through His name that every person, all, e v e r y o n e who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins.

What happened next as Peter was preaching?  The Holy Spirit fell on all who were listening to the message.  Are you listening?  When we have faith in Jesus as Savior and Lord, when we believe in Him we also are given the Holy Spirit!  (Acts 10:44)

The Jewish followers of Christ who had come with Peter were surprised; they were amazed, because Gentiles had also been given the Holy Spirit of God.  (Acts 10:45)

Those present began speaking in other languages and praising God, just as those Jewish believers had on the day of Pentecost.  (Acts 2:1-4)

Peter’s response to this astounding event:

(NASB) Acts 10:47-48 “‘Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we did, can he?’
48 And he ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.  Then they asked him to stay on for a few days.”

Gentiles were also forgiven of their sins, when they believed in Jesus Christ.  You are invited to join all followers of Christ and receive forgiveness of your sins by believing in Jesus as your Savior…this moment.  You also can Receive Forgiveness for Your Sins!
