Saul was traveling on a road which led from Jerusalem to Damascus.  He had others traveling with him.  He was on a mission, to wipe out Christians!  He had a letter, a letter of authority to do just that!  As far as he was concerned they were blasphemers of the living God.  (Acts 9:1-2)

  But what happened?  What unusual thing occurred to change his heart and mind?
(NASB) Acts 9:3-4 “As he was traveling, it happened that he was approaching Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him;
4 and he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?’”

   The Lord Jesus Christ personally called Saul with His presence and a question…“Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?”

  How has the Lord Jesus personally called you?  Perhaps through a sermon, a song, through the Holy Bible, through a friend, through someone you don’t know…perhaps you know God because He revealed Himself through what He has created.  God is not limited to how He calls each one.
  Each one is responsible to respond to His call…have you?  Perhaps you are an instrument through which the living God will call another and another and another.

  Saul’s attention was obtained through a blinding light (literally) and the voice of Jesus.  How has the living God gained your attention?  And, how have you responded?  Or do you need to respond – this moment?

  Jesus is Immanuel, God with us…do you know Him as your Savior, your Redeemer?
  Jesus is available today…for you and for me.  When we are grieving, distressed, deeply filled with sorrow…Jesus is Immanuel…God with us.  He is with us in the good times of life and in the hard things that happen.

  How is the living God gaining your attention?  How are you responding?
