Peter and John drew a crowd in Jerusalem when a lame man was healed.  Then Peter gave a sermon.  As a result, Peter and John were arrested and taken before the Jewish rulers for questioning the next day.  Peter told this august group of men that they were responsible for the death of Jesus, but that God had raised Him from the dead.  They were also told that “…there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”  (Acts 4:12)

(NASB) Acts 4:13 “Now as they observed the confidence of Peter and John and understood that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed, and began to recognize them as having been with Jesus.”

Who are the “they”?  “They” were Annas the high priest, Caiaphas and other Jewish religious leaders.
These were learned men that had received a formal education; they were probably trained by the best minds in Israel.
How did these men respond to Peter and John?  First, with amazement!  They knew that Peter and John were fishermen…these two men had no formal, higher education.
Second, they recognized that Peter and John had walked with Jesus, had known Him as a personal friend and teacher.

Followers of Christ – what do others know about you?
Do they know of your educational background and how you have been trained?
Do others know that you use some of your time to read and study God’s word by what you say and how you act?
Do others know that you are a follower of Christ?

What is your witness to a watching world?  Another question: are you conscious of Christ or conscious of yourself?  What is the topic of conversation that you are most comfortable with?  What do you choose to talk about?  Your conversation will reveal to yourself and to others what is most important to you.

As you witness you will reveal what you believe and what you know about the living God to others.
Are you being a positive witness of Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord to the men and women, the children with whom you have contact?
As you witness, are you concerned for others to know Jesus too?
