Day of Pentecost
One hundred twenty men and women gathered together in one house, waiting prayerfully on God.  (Acts 2:1)
Suddenly – the sound of a violent tempest blast of wind was heard by everyone present, indeed it filled the house.  (Acts 2:2)
Then those men and women saw tongues of fire resting on each one of them.  (Acts 2:3)

The sound of wind – but no effects of wind. Tongues of fire – but no physical effects of heat.

God’s work is authentic…God’s work is authoritative…God’s work is according to His purposes and plan.

God always, always, involves people in His plan and purposes.  He reveals Himself in a way we can understand.  God takes a complex concept and simplifies it so we can respond to Him.

Belief in Jesus is the starting point…Faith in Jesus is living it out, day by day.

God makes visible what He gives as an inward reality.

Followers of Christ…we have been given the power of the Holy Spirit the moment we believed in Jesus as our Savior.
Knowledge about Jesus is good, but knowing Jesus Himself is what counts with God.  Do you know Him as your Savior?  You may ask “why” do I need Jesus?   The answer is because you need to be forgiven of your sins.

On the Day of Pentecost, God sent the power of His Holy Spirit on the believers gathered together.  God sends His Spirit of power into each person who receives Jesus as their Savior.

Followers of Christ: Praise the Father, praise the Son, praise the Holy Spirit – three distinct Persons, yet One God.  Only believers in Christ Jesus have such a God to worship!

The Father is not the Son, the Son is not the Spirit, the Spirit is not the Father…Yet the Father is God, the Son is God, the Spirit is God…three distinct Persons yet…yet One God.

All those present in that house were believers, followers of the risen Christ “And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit” Who had been sent from heaven.
(Acts 2:4, 2)

Hallelujah, what a God to worship!

God’s work is authentic & authoritative!
