Peter and the others in a group of 120 probably searched the Scriptures, for Peter quoted two prophecies found in the Book of Psalms concerning the betrayer of Jesus.

  What did Peter find?
(NASB) Acts 1:16-20 “Brethren, the Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit foretold by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus.
17 ‘For he was counted among us and received his share in this ministry.’
18 (Now this man acquired a field with the price of his wickedness, and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his intestines gushed out.
19 And it became known to all who were living in Jerusalem; so that in their own language that field was called Hakeldama, that is, Field of Blood.)
20 ‘For it is written in the book of Psalms,
LET HIS HOMESTEAD BE MADE DESOLATE,
AND LET NO ONE DWELL IN IT’;
and
LET ANOTHER MAN TAKE HIS OFFICE.’”

They found those Scriptures – shouldn’t we also search the Scriptures when our world is in chaos, turmoil and fears assault us?
For God has foretold the coming days concerning the Tribulation.  When we see different events which line up with God’s prophecies we can know that our God knows what is going on and He is trustworthy as we live each day.

The books of Moses, the history of Israel, the Psalms and the Prophets, Jesus and the New Testament writings all have prophecies of the last days, and the millennial reign of Jesus Christ as King.

When you read God’s word, for what are you looking?
Sometimes ~ comfort.
Sometimes ~ direction.
Sometimes ~ release.
Sometimes ~ joy.
Sometimes ~ what I can expect because of the events happening world-wide.
Sometimes ~ knowledge.  If so, is that knowledge of God and His ways changing you?

When you and I read God’s word, do we read it to know God’s thoughts, His prophecies, His aim and His reasoning behind the events happening in the world?

Why do you search the Scriptures?  Only you can answer that.
