Before Jesus ascended into heaven we need to remember: none of the New Testament had yet been written; none of the four Gospels (and not how the Holy Spirit worked in the lives of the Apostles), none of the letters, nor the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ…nothing had yet been recorded.

The Apostles had the Old Testament; they knew that Messiah would one day restore the kingdom of God to Israel.  They also knew that the Lord Jesus was the Messiah.  They asked the resurrected Lord Jesus a question: was that time now?
What a logical question and one which we could also ask today.  People are well aware of events around the world through the internet.
“Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?”
(Acts 1:6 NASB)

And as Jesus said then, He also says now:
(NASB) Acts 1:7 “It is not for you to know times or epochs (dates) which the Father has fixed by His own authority;”

It is God’s timing ~ no matter how horrifying the events now taking place.  God is not surprised; in fact, He has warned us of our need to repent and turn to Him, over and over and over.  Jesus said at the beginning of His ministry:
(NASB) Mark 1:15 “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

The living God of the Holy Bible does not want anyone to perish but to turn to Him by faith in His Son.
(NASB) 2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.”

The living God is giving all people an opportunity to repent before the Day of Judgment.  When that day comes, no more opportunity to repent will be given.
The followers of Christ will not be in that courtroom because Jesus Christ has paid their penalty, our penalty for our sins.

We have been warned for hundreds, no make that thousands, of years.  All need to turn around toward the living God because He is the Creator, Savior, Redeemer, Counselor, our All in all.  He has warned, and is warning us still, to repent and believe in Jesus.
For God’s Day of Judgment will come.

Do you need to repent before this awesome God?  Yes!  Yes, we all do!
(NASB) Acts 4:12 “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”

No one knows what day God’s kingdom will be restored.
But it is a fact…that day will come.  Will you welcome it or will you be condemned?
