Jesus calls His followers to be witnesses.  We have personal knowledge of being forgiven of our sins; we have personal knowledge of God’s peace that passes all understanding…for when we are in right standing before God through faith in His Son, He gives us His peace.
To witness of the Lord Jesus Christ – the Good News (the Gospel) found only in Jesus Christ.  There is no other name in heaven, on earth or under the earth by which anyone can be saved.  (Acts 4:12)  I do not say this – God does!

How do you initiate a conversation that will lead another to having a seed planted in their thinking concerning Jesus the Messiah?
What can you say that will be gentle in your approach without being threatening to another?
Who knows, perhaps God will use you to lead another to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

The following is one example, one “method” that you could use to have such a conversation.

Your personal preparation of knowing God’s word for yourself is important.  If you have memorized God’s words, the Holy Spirit of God will bring them to your mind as is appropriate.  You may think ‘I do not have Scripture memorized’.  Consider this, you can carry a pocket sized Bible with you.  When you have your times of solitude, your time of quiet just between you and the Lord, you learn where you can go in your Bible to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Remember: people put up barriers if you confront them.  I am going to say, ‘Don’t confront people!’
What gains your respectful attention?  When others are having a conversation with you, then you are probably most open to their insights.

One way to be a witness for the Lord Jesus in a restaurant setting:
As you are waiting on your food in a restaurant, you can engage your waiter/waitress in a conversation.  Tell them you are getting ready to return thanks for your food, ‘How can we pray for you?’
At some point, you can ask them how their day is going.  Another question to ask them: if they are from “name of town”.
You can also ask if they go to church or are involved with a church.
If they indicate they have no church, invite them to yours.
A transition statement can come in at this point (if the conversation has proceeded to this point).  Have you come to know Christ or are you still on the way?

Another prerequisite…love for that person…ask the Lord to give you His love for each person with whom you have contact.  People know if you are hostile, defensive, confrontational or truly care about them.

Your motive, your attitude shows…as you witness of Jesus Christ.
