The risen Lord Jesus showed Himself to various individuals over a period of forty days.  He did not just show Himself to one or two, but to many in different circumstances and in various ways.

What are some of the “proofs”?
A huge stone rolled away from the entrance into the rock-hewn tomb.
(Luke 24:2)
An empty tomb – the body of Jesus – gone.  (Luke 24:3)
The grave clothes still in the tomb. (John 20:4-5)
Women, who had gone early to the tomb, visited by angels with the message that Jesus had risen from the dead.  (Luke 24:1-7)
Jesus’ actual appearance to two men walking to Emmaus.  (Luke 24:13-15)
Jesus – explaining the Scriptures concerning Himself to those two men.  (Luke 24:25-26)
Simon Peter had been visited by Jesus.  (Luke 24:34)

In the days that followed, Jesus was seen by His disciples and ate with them.
(John 21:12-15)
Jesus was seen by as many as five hundred at one time.  (1 Corinthians 15:5-7)
Further evidence for the skeptics – Jesus’ death was verified by His professional executioners, the Roman soldiers in charge of the crucifixion.  (Mark 15:39, 42-45)

Why is the death of Jesus so important to the faith of His followers?  Without His death, His sacrificial death, we would not be saved from our sins; we would not be saved from God’s wrath due to our sins.  We would not be saved to live in heaven after we die, and we would not be saved from the enemy of God (Satan).

(NASB) 1 Corinthians 15:12-19 “Now if Christ is preached, that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?
13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has been raised;
14 and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain.
15 Moreover we are even found to be false witnesses of God, because we testified against God that He raised Christ, whom He did not raise, if in fact the dead are not raised.”

Followers of Christ: our faith is not in vain; our belief in God’s words is not wasted; our Savior has been raised; our faith is not worthless; our assurance of eternal life is a fact.

When Jesus died, He took your sins and mine on Himself – they became His sins.  He was the Lamb of God, who took away the sins of the world!  (John 1:29)
When Jesus was resurrected, His sacrifice was recognized and accepted by God.  We need Jesus to save us from our sins, and the proof?  We have Jesus’ resurrection.

The followers of Christ worship the living resurrected Savior, Jesus Christ.  He was promised by God for anyone whose faith is in Him.
Jesus’ resurrection was proven, repeatedly in the lives of people, throughout the ages and in the world today.
