Two men walking toward Emmaus were joined by the unrecognized, risen Lord Jesus.  (Luke 24:15-16)
Jesus asked them a question, “What are these words that you are exchanging with one another as you are walking?”  (NASB Luke 24:17)

Imagine the surprise the two men must have shown at such a question.
(NASB) Luke 24:18 “One of them, named Cleopas, answered and said to Him, ‘Are You the only one visiting Jerusalem and unaware of the things which have happened here in these days?’”

  Jesus then asked another question.
(NASB) Luke 24:19 “And He said to them, ‘What things?’ And they said to Him, ‘The things about Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word in the sight of God and all the people.’”

When Jesus had entered Jerusalem triumphantly at the beginning of that week, the crowds were saying the same thing.
(NASB) Matthew 21:10-11 “When He had entered Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying, ‘Who is this?’
11 And the crowds were saying, ‘This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth in Galilee.’”

Jesus was recognized as a Prophet Who was powerful in action and speech by the crowds and those two men.  Cleopas and his traveling companion did not understand that it was Jesus to whom they were talking.

Jesus is still the resurrected, living Lord ~ today.  He is still powerful and still has God-given authority ~ today.
What do we need to remember ~ today?  It is not another’s power or authority that is greater than the living God’s!

When Moses was given the directions from God to go before Pharaoh, God said to Pharaoh:
(NASB) Exodus 9:16 “But, indeed, for this reason I have allowed you to remain, in order to show you My power and in order to proclaim My name through all the earth.”

God’s authoritative power in action and speech has not changed from the Old Testament to the New Testament even ~ today!

God’s power is evidenced through belief in His Son’s life, death and resurrection ~ today.
(NASB) John 1:12-13 “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,
13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.”

Jesus: A Prophet powerful in action and speech ~ available to you ~ today.
