Prophecy was fulfilled on that day when Jesus hung on the cross.  The physical effects of crucifixion were described about 1,000 years before Messiah was crucified.
  For those who do not like to think about such suffering described – I would encourage you to keep reading, for Jesus’ suffering was in your place and for your good.

~ Remember: our salvation is through faith in what Jesus has done for us…on the cross.

(NASB) Psalm 22:14-15 “I am poured out like water,
And all my bones are out of joint;
My heart is like wax;
It is melted within me.
15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd,
And my tongue cleaves to my jaws;
And You lay me in the dust of death.”

  Jesus experienced all that this prophecy foretold.  The description of what happens to a body while hanging on a cross is recorded by David – before crucifixion was “invented.”

  Dehydration from scourging (loss of blood) and the heat of the sun, no water or fluids were given to alleviate the dehydration.
  The arms were stretched out, nailed and lashed to the cross beam, the weight of the body would pull the shoulders out of joint.
  The heart would be working hard – dehydration, scourging, the burning heat of the sun.
  His physical strength was dried up, spent – like a broken piece of pottery.
  His tongue?  Dry and probably swollen.
  And to think that this also was said that God, His Father, had led Him to that hour on that cross – for you and me!

  Why?  Why would God do this?  Allowing His only begotten Son to die such a horrible death?  The answer is found in Isaiah…Scripture answers this question.
(NASB) Isaiah 53:6 “All of us like sheep have gone astray,
Each of us has turned to his own way;
But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all
To fall on Him.”
(NASB) Isaiah 53:12 “Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great,
And He will divide the booty with the strong;
Because He poured out Himself to death,
And was numbered with the transgressors;
Yet He Himself bore the sin of many,
And interceded for the transgressors.”

Your salvation and mine is through faith in Jesus (Messiah) Who has done all that was needful for you and me to be redeemed, saved for all eternity!  That’s love!

Hallelujah!  What a Savior!
