The Roman soldiers had crucified three men on three crosses and then they waited for those men to die.  As they were waiting…they gambled for the clothing of Jesus.

(NASB) John 19:23-25 “Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took His outer garments and made four parts, a part to every soldier and also the tunic; now the tunic was seamless, woven in one piece.
24 So they said to one another, ‘Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, to decide whose it shall be’; this was to fulfill the Scripture: ‘THEY DIVIDED MY OUTER GARMENTS AMONG THEM, AND FOR MY CLOTHING THEY CAST LOTS.’
25Therefore the soldiers did these things.”

  Where can that prophetic Scripture be found?
(NASB) Psalm 22:18 “They divide my garments among them,
And for my clothing they cast lots.”

  The soldiers unknowingly fulfilled prophecy about Messiah.
  Psalm 22 – as you read that Psalm, think about Jesus on the cross…this Psalm (which David wrote about 1,000 years before) accurately foretells what happened when Jesus died on the cross.  (Crucifixion had not yet been thought of in the days of David – amazing true words of God!)

(NASB) Numbers 23:19 “God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent;
Has He said, and will He not do it?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”

  Whatever God has said – has been fulfilled, is being fulfilled or will be fulfilled.

  You and I have a choice to make, to believe God’s words (all of them) or not…
