Red Letter Day

Attribute of God ~ Quicken (make alive)

  Jesus said:
(NASB) John 6:63 “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.”

In another translation of God’s word:
(Amplified) John 6:63 “It is the Spirit Who gives life [He is the Life-giver]; the flesh conveys no benefit whatever [there is no profit in it].  The words (truths) that I have been speaking to you are spirit and life.”

Jesus’ words are life ~ His actions were directed to providing life to all who turn to Him ~ believing in Him.
He quickens, He makes alive by and through His Holy Spirit ~ each one of His followers have been given this gift of life.

Truth: Jesus was born in a stable (the Son of God! Born in a stable!).
He was born for you.

Truth: Jesus (Who was, and is, without sin) died on a cross (a cross is for criminals).
He died for you.

Why did Jesus die for you?
(NASB) Ephesians 2:1-3 “AND YOU were dead in your trespasses and sins,
2 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.
3 Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.”

Without Jesus’ death and resurrection I would still be living in my sins with no way to God…He has redeemed me, He paid the price for my sins…this is why I need Jesus.
It is through His resurrection that I have been quickened, made alive, to God through the Holy Spirit.

(NASB) 1 Peter 3:18 “For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit…”

(NASB) Romans 8:1-2 “THEREFORE THERE is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.”

How does this impact your life?  For the followers of Christ (those who have turned to Him by believing in what He has done for them on the cross) can now live with confidence in God!  We can live yielded to God and His ways.
God is at work in our lives and through our lives for His purposes to be accomplished.

Be Encouraged!
The seeds sown today in you and through you will bear a harvest.
It is His words which give His Spirit and His life.
