Red Letter Day

Attribute/Name of God ~ Mighty

(NASB) Isaiah 9:6 “For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us;
And the government will rest on His shoulders;
And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.”

The child Jesus was born, the Son of God given to us!  One day the government will rest on His capable shoulders.  His name?: Wonderful Counselor (God the Holy Spirit), Mighty God (the Triune God, three Persons yet One God), Eternal Father (God the Father), Prince of Peace (God the Son – the Lord Jesus Christ).

For all followers of Christ we indeed have a Mighty God!  This mighty God is our Savior and LORD and Counselor.  How are you choosing to rely on His power, His might?

The LORD God’s very name is one of power – His name reveals Who He is, what He has done and what He will do – He has the power to keep His words of promise and His words of warning.
(NIV) Jeremiah 10:6 “No one is like you, O LORD; you are great, and your name is mighty in power.”

(NIV) Ephesians 1:18-20 “I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19and his incomparably great power for us who believe.  That power is like the working of his mighty strength, 20which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms…”

The Mighty God had the power to raise Jesus from the dead…that power is for those who believe in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection.  God’s mighty power reveals His mighty strength.

Have you thought about that?…God’s mighty power raised the lifeless body of His Son from the dead.  Christ Jesus’ resurrection is proof of the power of God.

God’s majesty (King of kings – He has power over all rulers), His magnificence (no power of this world can compare to the Mighty God), His magnitude (His power is far reaching into eternal day), this Mighty God’s power is meaningful for you…this day…in which you live.

It is God’s mighty power on which the followers of Christ are to rely…not money, not even good health, not position or power in this world, or who you know…God alone has the power which you and I need to live with assurance in our present circumstances.

(NASB) 1 Peter 5:6 “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.”

The followers of Christ are blessed indeed…we worship and serve the Mighty God.
